Matagorda

Monday I waded the "Hump" in Port O'Connor with Mike Curley and crew. You could read a news paper on the bottom so we threw salt & pepper Bass Assassins to dupe 29 speckled trout. I took Ned Johnson and Barry back the next day where things slowed to only 8 on the first wade. We moved next to the shoreline on some grassbeds that were loaded with bait to finish up our 20 trout for the day. I took Earl Calkins and his crew back west Thursday where the wind picked back up early. Grinding several different spots on the shoreline produced 9 trout for the day. Keith Sellers was down from Louisianna on Friday for a fishing and gigging trip. Oyster Lake had some big redfish to 27" over scattered shell early. We boxed two limits of reds, a trout, a flounder and 7 big drum. Live shrimp was the bait of choice under the "Inticer" popping cork. Midcoast finally came up with an inline cork I've been trying to get them to make since they started making corks. This new cork has a unique sound that catches fish. Try one. You can get them from Russell's Bait Camp. Friday nights flounder trip produced 40 flatties in 2 hours of gigging in east bay. The gigging action was hot and heavy. Higher tides pushed some nice flatties up to 4 pounds on the shoreline.

Proud Daddy!

This is Capt. Scott Reeh and his daughter Tori. She caught this shark in the Matagorda surf under a pink Inticer while fishing the Lingerie on the Bay tournament this past weekend with her Daddy. Great job Tori!

Videos of the Year!

Excellent day with my Dad!

My Dad and I had the pleasure of fishing with Capt. Dustin Lee this past Thursday. We began our day drifting South of Bird Island @ San Luis Pass. Bait and birds were working everywhere we looked, but the fish beneath were only skipjacks. Capt. Lee suggested we move to the North side of the island and that was the beginning of an outstanding morning. When my Dad does get to fish with me we never seem to hit things right, but this day was an exception. We bailed out to wade a group of diving birds around 9:00 AM, we got back in the boat with 3 limits of trout @ 10:00 AM. My Dad said he had never caught a limit that fast in his life! The smile on his face said it all, thanks for going the extra mile Capt. Dustin Lee (literally) this particular trip was long overdue and I'm glad you were there to make it happen!

New believer in the Inticer !

Captain Ken Marshall of Matagorda gave me a couple of the Inticer corks to try. I believe they are the best fishing corks on the market! Most of the time my wife & I fish on bottom around Rockport, but after trying your corks we will now fish with them most of the time.

Capt. Rick

Capt. Rick had a 4 hour charter that turned into a 5 hour trip for Miss Judy Charters. The water temp was 85° and visiblilty was excellent. We started at 6:30 am sharp and the water was loaded with large and smalltrout. The largest trout kept was a shade over 21 inches and very fat. We kept a total of 8 nice seatrout, 2 slot sized redfish and 1 black drum and 1 whiting. All fish were caught on the Inticer and Outcast from MidCoast.
There is a Burnside Bopper hanging with the Outcast and Inticer, and it produced nothing. The unique popping action of the Midcoast Products corks is one of the keys to their success over competitors corks.

Georgia report!

It is HOT here in Georgia. The water temperature has risen to 86 degrees and climbing. You have got to get your fisihing in early in the day or late in the evening. I headed out with a friend the other morning and we managed several trout a short redfish and a solid flounder on the Outcast. We were fishing around dock pilings and the old Outcast was taking a beating. Tight Lines!
