Capt. Rick

Capt. Rick had a 6 hour charter for Miss Judy Charters. I cannot stress how important it is to keep yourself hydrated. Drink Plenty of fluids! Ihad a couple of neat guys that really knew how to fish! John and Keithfrom the Atlanta area. Today was strictly catch and release. We started off catching some nice keeper size trout, then a flounder or 2.
Keith hooked something that stripped a good bit of line before goingairborne and we all agreed that it was a small tarpon, not a ladyfish. He spit the hook on the Jump. Next drop produced alot of small Rat Redfish, then some that were a bit bigger, probably a couple years old.
Next move produced a beautiful redfish over 28 inches (Johns ). Then Keith who was fishing a finger mullet got broken off on the intial strike run, by a huge redfish. The drag was just a shade too tight for that hit. Keith then had another hard hit and landed his Redfish that was 26 inches . We also caught a few more flounder. Total catch and release of the day was 5 flounder, 10 trout, 2 oversized redfish, 5 undersized redfish, a couple croakers and a juvinile tarpon that released himself. All fish caught onthe Inticer cork from Midcoast products. All bait courtesy of Tom Carfrey! Thanks Tom!

Capt. Rick had a scouting trip for Miss Judy Charters. Tom and I tried acouple spots late on Tuesday evening just before dark and caught a fewsmall trout, had some breakoffs and released quite a few large ladyfish. Good evening of fishing without pressure. All fish caught on the Inticer by Midcoast. The first picture is of Tom with an inticer and ladyfish. It drove those ladys Wild!
2nd report - today 7.25.2008. The heavyset guy is Keith and he is prettyhigh up at the Atlanta Aquarium. Both of these guys do marine research. They loved the Inticer so I gave them both a couple. They had been at some conferences and will talk about the corks I am sure.

Tori & Dane go fishin!

Well, today was about the kids. I took my daughter Tori and my best friends son Dane fishing today. Loaded w/ a quart of shrimp and some " Evolution " corks we hit some of my favorite drains in East Matty today. Reds, puppy drum, croaker and hardheads kept me busy and the kids smiling. Dane had his first keeper red today and boy was he happy. He also caught a few that were 18-19 inches. The kids, not me, ended the day w/ 2 keeper reds and 2 croaker. I really enjoy watching kids reel in their first keeper fish, those are memories that last a lifetime! Keep the sport of fishing alive and " Take a kid fishing ".

Capt. Rick

Capt. Rick had an 8 hour charter for Miss Judy Charters. This trip was postponed from the 18th due to bad weather. Caught a few bonnet head sharks, some bluefish and some redfish, and kept 8 trout for a nice meal. All fish were caught on micro sized bait shrimp. The Largest trout measured a shade over 22 inches and weighed 4lbs and 6 oz, and was caughton a black Inticer. The Inticer is the Best! Nothing rattles like these do. I had a couple guys insist on using a cajun thunder but switched about mid trip, and this was a long charter! We had a couple rods rigged with the cajun thunder, but by the end of the trip, everyone was using the Inticer.
Water temp was 83° and clear. Wind was stiff out of the West, Southwest. Most all the action came on the last hour of the incoming tide.

Report from Capt. Eric

On Friday I had a charter and the wind blew stronger than expected. We were rigged up with the RAGE cork to start with but were unable to cast well into the wind. One by one, I changed the rigs over to the OUTCAST popping cork and we were able to hit our target. we released all the fish on this trip. We managed to dodge the storms from the tropical depression off our coast. The next day I fished a local touramnet and I rigged up with the NEW "EVOLUTION" cork. I proceeded to wear out my fishing partner the entire morning. He has been using his favorite cork for many years but about 11:00 am when he was down by 20 trout, he wanted to know if I had an extra "EVOLUTION" in my tackle box. I'm sold on the EVOLUTION, It works like a charm.

Another satisfied customer!

Caught this red on the Outcast using live finger mullet rigged about 18 inches from the cork. If I'm fishing over grass I rig the bait just above the grass line so the mullet is constantly swimming downwards trying to hide in the grass but cannot. So it creates alot of commotion and the reds can see them easily and the bait stays out of the grass.

Kids tourney in Matagorda!

I had the pleasure of spending a great morning @ the Harbor in Matagorda with my Dad, my daughter and youngest son and two of my nephews. The kids were fishing the annual Jimmy Guest Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament which is put on by the Fort Bend CCA chapter. What a great event for the youngsters, it was HOT! but they didn't seem to mind. Participation is free and includes food and drinks, bait and each child leaves with some sort of door prize! There were 134 kids in this years tournament. Trophies were given to the top three anglers in three age groups, this is my nephew Taylor in the pic above, he won a second place trophy for heaviest fish in his age group (1 pound 2 ounce croaker). Way to go Taylor! The kid that beat him out of first place did it with a 40 pound black drum, wow what a fish! The group pic includes Taylor, my daughter Cassidy, my son Camden and my nephew Bryce. They all said that they want to do it again next year (imagine that!)

Capt. Eric & family

I had the pleasure of fishing today with my Mom, Dad and son. We caught reds, trout and flounder. Not much size to most of them but we had a great deal of action. We also caught a few nice bonnethead sharks which put up a nice fight on light tackle. Nearly all the fish were caught on the RAGE popping cork with a live shrimp or mullet. The highlight of the trip was the excitement my son had when he was able to "cast, pop, set the hook and reel in" a trout and shark "all by himself. that 5 year old was grinning ear to ear. He did a nice job. I didnt realize how much he watched me while I was fishing. He is still working on getting the cast net open.

The latest from Midcoast Products!

We asked our Pro Team from Matagorda to do some extensive prototype testing to determine what popping cork design would be most effective for the areas they fish, the result of their input is the “EVOLUTION” the first weighted, in-line popping cork that Midcoast Products has produced.
At first glance you would think it’s an INTICER, but look closely at its design. Yes it’s on a stainless steel wire, it does utilize the same cork body and beads and it’s weighted. The greatest difference is beneath the weight. An eye and swivel were added to allow for attachment of your leader to the bottom of this popping cork. Try one the next time you’re on the water, you’re sure to be impressed with their performance!

Triple Tail

After Tuesdays trip, Gene and Craig just didn't get enough fun in ! LOL They called and asked if I was open on Thursday and wanted to fish again. Fish it is! We headed west armed w/ EVOLUTION corks and DOAs. First stop only yielded throw backs. The next few stops were a bust and the water wasn't in the condition it was in Tuesday. We decided to Tripletail again so off we go ! Baaammmm.....second stop we put a 16lb 9oz Tail in the boat. Same spot second cast and 35 min later a 24lb 3oz fish is in the box. After all the high fives we decide to try for one more fish and then call it a morning. Well that didn't happen as we had to run for cover in the very high winds that a local storm had produced. Big smiles and sore arms again as the father and son team put them " in the sack " again!
