The latest from Georgia
This weekend I volunteered to take one of our country's finest out fishing. Specialist Marvin James drew my name from a hat and we were matched to fish the 1st Annual Fort McAllister Wounded Warriors Tournament in Richmond Hill. GA. It was an Inshore/Offshore Tournament with several catagories and divisions to fish in. All the soldiers were recently wounded in the course of duty durring recent deployments. We set out at 6am and had boated over 20 redfish by 7:30. By 8 AM we were out of bait and had to resupply. We managed another pint of live shrimp and put a very large shrimp under an orange evolution popping cork and let it sail. Marvin, a novice angle, followed my recommendations and boated an 18lb bonnethead shark on light tackle and a 14lb florocarbon leader. We ended the "Best day of his life". boating several trout, ladyfish, sharks and croaker. We won the shark division and placed second in the"slam" only losing by an oz. Thanks cork guys for the tackle to get the job done right!
